About Dr. Shabash
A physician's perspective on better healthcare.
I am a family physician, clinical leader, and medical educator whose career has developed across Canada and Libya. My experience has included comprehensive family medicine, clinic ownership and management, medical direction, university teaching, professional assessment, and healthcare-system planning.
I currently practise family medicine and provide clinical leadership in Ottawa, Canada. My previous work has included managing community healthcare facilities in Libya and Canada, teaching medical sciences, mentoring healthcare professionals, and contributing to discussions about strengthening primary care and family medicine.
Working in two different healthcare environments has given me a practical understanding of both the strengths and limitations of established and developing health systems. It has reinforced my belief that effective healthcare begins with accessible primary care, well-supported professionals, clear standards, reliable information systems, and continuity throughout the patient journey.
My work is guided by a simple principle: healthcare improvement must ultimately produce a meaningful difference in the everyday experience of patients, families, and the professionals who care for them.
